Joanne T. Gilbert: Wife,mother and grandmother, has lived in Rialto, CA for twenty-one years. I was elected to my first political office in 2001 as a member of the Board of Trustees for Rialto Unified School District. I was re-elected in November 2006 winning by a wide margin in comparison to my closest opponents. As a member of the Rialto School Board, I am serving my second term as Board President.
I am married to Artist Gilbert, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), retired. We have six adult children and nine grandchildren. Our children all have professional jobs from law enforcement (2), public school administration, physical trainer, airline executive and Information Technology. Three grandchildren are in college.

Occupation Teacher/ Educator: For the past thirty- five years I have worked in public education. My teaching career has spanned from New York, Virginia and California. I am currently the California School Age Families Education Program Director for Moreno Valley Unified School District, Moreno Valley, CA.

Community Activities: include Past President of the Original Rialto Democratic Club; Beautification Commissioner (4 years) for the City of Rialto, Member of East Rialto Kiwanis club, Past President of the National Council of Negro women, Inland Empire Section; Charter member of the Women’s Democratic Club of the Inland Empire. Member of the Rialto Black History committee, member of the San Bernardino Democratic Luncheon Club.
